工作描述

The intern will work full-time with the Capitol Reef National Park Division of Resource Management & Science, assisting with cultural resources-related office and field work.

Critical elements of the internship include but are not limited to the following major responsibilities:

  • 协助博物馆管理,档案研究和年度报告
  • Assist with cultural resources inventory and documentation of newly identified archeological resources and historic structures
  • 协助对先前记录的考古资源进行状态监测
  • 从库存和监控中输入现场数据到园区数据库
  • 根据需要协助其他资源管理和口译活动
  • 根据需要担任国会礁野外站的现场助理现场经理。

Museum management activities will include assistance with the inventory and housekeeping of museum collections, rehousing of objects and photographic media, and the completion of year-end reporting. The intern may also conduct archival research to support cultural resource identification efforts and other resource management actions.

Field activities to assist with cultural resources inventory and condition monitoring of archeological resources may require long hours in the field and hiking up to 10 miles a day across rough terrain, although 2 to 6 miles per day is more typical. Weather conditions may vary from cold and rainy in the early spring to temperatures nearing 100 ℉ in the summer. Other challenging conditions may include high winds and biting insects.

Candidates should enjoy a mix of working indoors and outdoors, be physically fit, methodical and detail-oriented, and be able to record data accurately and legibly. Skills with photography, computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, ArcGIS), and operating four-wheel drive vehicles on dirt roads would be beneficial. Interns would be supervised by the park Archeologist/Cultural Resource Program Manager and may work closely with other park managers when assisting with other resource management and interpretation activities.
