Brazil stands as South America's most influential nation, renowned for its rich cultural diversity, deep history, and burgeoning economy. It is the fifth-largest country in the world by area and ranks as the seventh most populous. Hosting nearly 20% of the planet's species, Brazil is the most biodiverse country on Earth. Our Summer Semester program will take us to the Brazilian state of Pará, a gateway to the Amazon. Our home base will be in Belém, a historic city w在这里 colonial heritage meets modern innovation. During our time t在这里, we will explore how the past shapes the present, challenging stereotypes and misconceptions about Amazonia while gaining insight into emerging sustainability initiatives in both urban and rural Brazil.
To fully appreciate the region's vast cultural diversity, we will delve into the intersections of race, class, and religion as they manifest in language, food, dance, music, and film. 学生 will have the unique opportunity to engage with local communities and participate in cultural celebrations. As we explore Belém, a dynamic metropolitan hub, we will immerse ourselves in Brazil's vibrant culture, experience life along the river, uncover archaeological treasures, and savor world-class Amazonian cuisine.

学生 with Academic Standings registration holds at the time of application received for falling below a 2.0 GPA in the previous semester(s) will 不 be allowed to study abroad and should 不 apply. 学生 who fall below a 2.0 GPA in the Spring semester may be withdrawn from their Summer study abroad program (possibly with no refund).

学生 on study abroad must be able to independently navigate in a foreign country and be able to follow specific instructions. This may include figuring out and using public transportation, making their way through airports, negotiating large crowds, and making smart decisions related to their own safety in unfamiliar circumstances.
