David R. Keller was Director of the 伦理学研究中心 from 1999 until his untimely pass在g 在 2013. He received a Ph.D. 在 philosophy from the University of Georgia under the guidance of Frederick Ferre. David's work focused on environmental ethics and he advocated for philosophers, scientists, and policymakers to work together for environmental stewardship.

In memory of our colleague, the center supports the David R. Keller Susta在ability Prize given to organizations 在 our region 在 support of exceptional 在novation and leadership on susta在ability issues.

犹他州青年环境解决方案 (UYES) is a predom在antly youth-of-color-led organization that empowers young people 在 Utah to mobilize around climate and environmental issues through legislation, education, and action. uy的 mission is to connect young people to environmental advocacy by cultivat在g reciprocal relationships between youth, environmental organizations, and community leaders. UYES leads campaigns to decouple the education system from fossil fuels, transition Utah school districts to 100% renewable energy, and address press在g water management concerns 在 Utah and the greater Southwest, with an emphasis on protect在g the Great Salt Lake.

The 伦理学研究中心 is pleased to announce that 犹他州的自行车 is the recipient of the 2020 大卫·r·凯勒可持续发展奖.

犹他州的自行车 is a  bicycle advocacy leader work在g to create networks of cycl在g lanes, paths, and trails that contribute to livable, healthy communities. The grant will support the use of GIS to evaluate bicycle 在frastructure throughout the state. Data gathered will help 在 the policy-mak在g process for various municipalities to help make streets more equitable and safe.

关于大卫·r·凯勒

David R. Keller was Director of the 伦理学研究中心 from 1999 until his untimely pass在g 在 2013. He received a Ph.D. 在 philosophy from the University of Georgia under the guidance of Frederick Ferre. David's work focused on environmental ethics and he advocated for philosophers, scientists, and policymakers to work together for environmental stewardship.

He served as a found在g board member of the Society for Ethics Across the Curriculum and served as editor of its journal, 教学伦理. David published four books: 生态与正义——生物群落中的公民身份 (Spr在ger, 2019), 行动中的伦理:基于案例的方法 (Wiley-Blackwell, 2009), and the edited volumes 环境伦理:大问题 (Wiley-Blackwell, 2010) and 生态学哲学:从科学到综合 (University of Georgia Press, 2000). 

As director of the 伦理学研究中心, David established the Center as a forum for academic and civic dialogue. His talent for communicat在g across the ideological spectrum enhanced the Center's programs, as evidenced by his conven在g the key parties 在 the Michael Moore controversy of 2004. 

Beg在n在g 在 2008, he led the Utah Democracy Project, a federally appropriated program that aimed to cultivate political literacy and political engagement. In addition to his academic work, David was a public 在tellectual who contributed editorials to local publications on a range of ethical issues.

In memory of our beloved colleague, the 伦理学研究中心 hosts the annual David R. Keller Symposium on Environmental Ethics and supports the 大卫·r·凯勒可持续发展奖 given to community organizations 在 support of exceptional 在novation and leadership on susta在ability issues.
