Entry into the 呼吸治疗 program is determined by a competitive application process. 没有等待名单！ Three factors are considered in the application process: GPA of the prerequisite courses, TEAS test scores, and interview.

All applicants will be notified within 3-7 business days after the application closing date, via their UVU student email, to inform them whether or not they have been selected to interview. The number of applications varies by semester and affects the number of students selected. Due to limited time and space, not all applicants may receive an invitation to interview.
The interview process is standardized to ensure that each candidate interviewed has an equal opportunity to be objectively evaluated. An interview does not guarantee acceptance. Only the scores from the interview process are used to determine acceptance into the 呼吸治疗 program. Applicants can only be invited to interview twice in a 5-year period.
All applicants will be notified via their UVU student email account whether or not they have been selected to interview, typically within 3-7 business days after the application deadline. It is the student’s responsibility to check their UVU student email to see if they have been invited to interview.
Applicants invited to interview should carefully follow instructions provided in the email from the 呼吸治疗 program. Applicants should prepare as they would for a professional job interview. （不需要简历或推荐信等。） 面试持续约2.5小时，包括多个评估步骤。 Those steps may include, but are not limited to, individual interviews, group activity, and writing a timed essay using a provided prompt.

All interview candidates will be notified by their myUVU email of their admissions status within 2 weeks of the interview completion date.

All students are 要求 to attend the Utah Society for 呼吸 Care (USRC) Conference in the Spring semester and complete an assignment. The USRC Conference requires that students register for a student American Association for 呼吸 Care (AARC) membership ($25) plus conference registration fees (typically $50-$60).

In accordance with UVU policy 548 applicants to clinical programs at UVU must pass a drug test. 学生将在接受临床项目后进行测试。 The responsibility for passing the drug test resides with the student regardless of possession of a medical cannabis card that is legal in any state. Clinical programs reserve the right to repeat drug tests at any time during the clinical program.
Immunization and TB testing compliance is 要求 of all respiratory therapy (RT) students. RT students are at risk for exposure to, and possible transmission of, diseases due to their contact with patients or with infective material of patients. 学生 compliance with immunizations and testing is 要求 in order to participate in clinical experiences.
