This program will immerse students in a study of the social and cultural history of art in Italy from 1400-1700. 学生 will visit major museums and churches in Rome, Florence, Siena, and Venice to study art and architecture in person to deepen their understanding of the works’ artistic, political, cultural, and historical significance. Highlights of the trip will include on-site instruction at the Borghese Gallery, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums, the Uffizi Gallery, the Pitti Palace, and the Accademia Galleries in Florence and Venice. Additional day trips will include Padua, Fiesole, and Orvieto. 学生 will participate in class discussions and presentations, and they will engage in on-site observational drawing and sculpting experiences to complement their art historical studies. We will stay in monasteries that are centrally located in each city.
