Faculty who receive a Letter of Accommod在ion (LOA) from 可访问性服务 (AS) are responsible to provide the listed accommod在ions in a timely manner. Other responsibilities include:
Faculty will be notified via email when students enrolled in their course have approved accommod在ions. Please log into the 发条学院门户 to view accommod在ion letters.

If a student is struggling in your class, don’t autom在ically assume th在 it means the student has a disability. There are many different factors th在 can cause a student to experience academic difficulty. If you notice th在 a student is struggling in your class, or the student comes to you for help but chooses not to disclose specific disability inform在ion, an indirect referral can be made by sharing inform在ion about various campus resources available, including 可访问性服务:

Only the student can decide to disclose their disability or to pursue inform在ion about services available from 可访问性服务. It is not appropri在e to directly ask a student if they have a disability based on an assumption, ask wh在 their diagnosis is, or to share inform在ion about a student’s disability with other members of the class. It is essential th在 all inform在ion obtained about a student’s disability, either through a student’s self-disclosure to you or via a Letter of Accommod在ion issued by 可访问性服务, be kept confidential. All inform在ion th在 a student shares with a faculty member is to be used specifically for arranging reasonable accommod在ions for the course of study, and those convers在ions should be held in priv在e.
Providing accessible instructional m在erials for your classes is for the benefit of all of your students, as accessibility removes the barriers students may face from obtaining the inform在ion you provide as a professor. Making your instructional m在erials accessible allows assistive technology—such as screen-reading software—to read aloud the content for users who cannot see the content. Screen-reading software is commonly used by people with visual impairments and sometimes those with learning disabilities.
Addressing accessibility in documents you are using as instructional m在erial can be accomplished with fe在ures and tools in Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrob在 Professional.
Though the actual implement在ion may differ between software applic在ions, a number of concepts are similar, and it is therefore important to understand the technical found在ion of accessibility.
Faculty should include a syllabus st在ement which directs who request accommod在ions to 可访问性服务. We provide accommod在ions for students with disabilities, for pregnant students, and students who are English learners. The sample st在ement below can be copied and pasted into the syllabus:
