保留、任期和晋升 at UVU is an essential component of meeting our University mission to “educate every student for success in work and life through excellence in engaged teaching, services, and scholarship.” The process to earn tenure or rank advancement at UVU is an opportunity for each tenure-track or tenured faculty member to develop in these three areas throughout their careers and for the university to make a strong investment in faculty success and teaching excellence.

什么是RTP?

The selection and promotion of a faculty member is of paramount importance to Utah Valley University (UVU). UVU seeks to appoint excellent faculty members, reward their achievement, and encourage them to become active participants at the institution (Policy 632 § 1.1).

RTP条件

Faculty are evaluated for tenure and promotion at each level based on a thorough review of a portfolio submitted by the faculty member with respect to UVU policies and approved department criteria.

教学卓越

Teaching is the primary responsibility and focus of faculty at UVU, as “providing a quality education for students is fundamental to the mission and goals of the University” (Policy 641 § 1.1.2). Thus, faculty excellence in teaching is the most significant factor in decisions of tenure and rank advancement. It is essential that all faculty maintain high levels of teaching throughout their careers.

RTP委员会

Faculty play an important role in shared governance surrounding RTP at UVU by serving on department RTP committees, the 教师参议院 RTP & Appeals Committee, and the University Tenure Advisory Committee.

RTP上诉

Faculty who receive a negative decision with regard to retention, tenure, or promotion have the right to appeal that decision.
