UVU’s Master of Education in Advancement in Teaching and Learning is designed for practicing teachers who want to enhance their practice at the school, district, and community levels. This program reviews innovative instructional strategies, effective use of assessments for and of learning, and responsive curriculum design. It also prepares teachers to develop a broader understanding of the educational landscape that will help them advocate for effective and responsible policies for PK-12 education.

I had been teaching for 15 years and wanted to pursue an instructional coaching position
with my district. This degree helped me get the job I wanted and helped me learn how
best to help teachers.

学生s have the flexibility to choose either a full-time (4 semesters) or a part-time (6 semesters) schedule, typically starting the program in Summer. For the full-time track, coursework is typically offered three days a week (TWR) at 5-8 pm. For the part-time track, students take one or two courses each semester.
The curriculum aligns with the AAQEP accreditation learning standards and the Utah Effective Teaching Standards.
Near the end of the program, students complete a Capstone Project to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they've gained in the program and illustrate how prepared they are to lead their professional learning communities and to become a teacher leader/mentor.
